January of 2009 Found us in the Tampa Bay area at The Tampa RV Supershow at the fairgrounds. For $8 you can drool over all the magnificent RV's from the lowly class "B" (more like we drive) to the "ohmygoodness" million dollar Prevost bus, with mirrored ceilings and a big screen TV at the end of the bed that goes up and down out of a pillar/divider. There was a special we were unable to take advantage of that day: seems he could put us into this beauty for under a mill...ion. Hard to pass up!
Why not get two?
Made our way over to Vacation Village in Largo to see musical friends, Larry and Melissa Beahm, or "One More Time," as they are known, and did a show for the spaghetti dinner for a really fun group of folks, primarily Canadian. We have a video of the event which we hope to turn into a DVD that we can share with folks.
Our travels took us to Ocala RV Resort where we played to a packed clubhouse. They invited us back for St. Patrick's Day.
And on down to Punta Gorda and the Guitar Army. (All this to be near the Showcase we did in Venice.) "Guitar army" is the nickname locals have given to an event that takes place every Thursday evening in a park just cross the bridge in Punt Gorda.
Dozens of musicians and singers come out to share, and every pavilion, and some open spaces, will fill before sundown with music of a particular genre, and folks "jam"--that is, play along with whoever is taking a turn playing and/or singing.
There are two country gatherings, complete with electric amps, a "folk," or general acoustic pavilion, and even an area devoted to polka bands!
We heard some great talent there.
